Job DescriptionThe Accounting Manager is responsible for developing
and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to
ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position
oversees general ledger management, financial reporting, account
reconciliations, sales tax, business intelligence, sales rebates,
and commissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce the monthly financial statements, including the Balance
Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement, and Statement of
Shareholders' Equity.
- Ensure an accurate and timely month, quarter, and year-end
close, including posting journals and maintaining proper cutoff
procedures.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly and analyze
fluctuations or deviations from budget expectations.
- Prepare sales and use tax returns using Avalara.
- Support business intelligence framework to enhance financial
decision-making.
- Prepare monthly sales commissions and customer rebates.
- Maintain and ensure the accuracy of fixed asset and
depreciation records.
- Advise departments on proper handling of non-routine
transactions.
- Monitor and analyze departmental workflows to develop more
efficient processes and procedures.
- Respond to inquiries from Financial Controller, President, and
other stakeholders regarding financial results and special
reporting requests.
- Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
- Monitor and advise on progress toward goals and enhance staff
professional development.
- Perform general office duties, including maintaining files and
other administrative tasks as required.
Physical Demands
- Lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally; minimal physical exertion
required.
- Sedentary work involving prolonged sitting, data analysis, and
computer use.
- Close visual acuity required for analyzing data, reading
reports, and working on a computer.
- The work environment is primarily office-based, with no
substantial exposure to adverse conditions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 2-5 years of experience in accounting and/or financial
reporting.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills to support future
AR/AP functions.
- Advanced proficiency in MS 365, Syteline (or similar ERP), and
Microsoft BI preferred.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial
reporting.
