We are in the business of electrical insulation manufacturing, but we really pride ourselves in just being a group of fun, driven, problem solvers who LOVE what we do!The Gund Company: Take Care of Each Other, Take Care of the Customer and Take Care of the BusinessShift: Third (10:30pm - 7:00am Sun- Thurs) - Friday/Saturday OFFHourly Wage: $20-23 (plus a 20% shift premium) Plant/Work Location: 809 Philip Drive Waukesha, WI 53186 Job SummaryImplement the Production Fulfillment Process steps related to the manufacture of thermoset composite materials by operating manufacturing equipment that includes presses, forming, extrusion, pultrusion and/or shape machines. Ensures machinery is set up, works properly, and conforms with (and can produce materials that conform with) company quality, quantity, and efficiency standards.Duties also involve manual work and duties that require the use of various hand tools and secondary/accessory equipment.Essential Job Functions:Form molded sheets and shapes of materials using various manufacturing equipment:Manufacture molded glass polyester sheets by laying up material to the desired thickness and spreading resin according to customer orders per instructions on customer work ordersSelect and install machine components, such as dies, spacers, shims and/or stops according to specifications, using hand tools and measuring devicesSet up tooling, load programs and set machine parameters to ensure optimal equipment performance, including stop block shimming, shear bar changes and machine parameter entryActivate machines to shape or form sheets and/or shape insulation products by pressing control buttons to activate equipmentRemove materials or products from molds or from forming or pressing machines and stack or store them for additional processing.Trim/file and de-flash molded sheet edges and perform in process measuring and material inspections Record and maintain production data, such as tolerance readings, and quantities, types, and defects of materials producedClean dies and molds, using scrapers, brushes, scotch pads or air hosesMove materials, supplies, components, and finished products between storage and work areas, using work aids such as carts, forklifts and hand trucksMaintain count and perform packaging duties as requiredParticipate in cross training to become knowledgeable of equipment/process within the departmentPerform routine daily machine maintenance including cleaning up and lubricationMaintain a clean and organized work areaProvide guidance, feedback and positive behavior modeling The Gund Company culture of care:Communicate with supervisor on hot jobs and work order prioritiesFollow safety rules and quality standardsModel ethical and moral behavior consistent with the values and ideals supported by The Gund CompanyRequirements:Qualifications and CompetenciesProduction and Processing-Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.Mechanical- Knowledge of machines and tools including designs, uses, repair & maintenanceComputers & Electronics-Knowledge of machine controls, electronic equipment to include hardware/software and applicationsPerform work independently with minimal defectsOpen to change due to emergency orders or fabrication of partsBasic to Intermediate math skills with the ability to understand technical drawings and troubleshootAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsMust be able to work overtime as neededEducation and ExperienceA High School Diploma or GED with prior hands on, vocational or job-related course work/training, or any similar combination of education and experience is required. Prior experience in a manufacturing industry with mixing, batching or compounding equipment is preferred.Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee may be required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lb. drums, mixing bags and/or other related material. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.Work EnvironmentThe work environment is typical of most shop environments; not climate controlled and subject to outdoor weather conditions.
