Habitat Division Technician & Equipment Operator Position
Announcement Cason Land & Water Management, LLC is a land and water
resource management firm based in Berlin, WI, with a work area
covering Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, and Upper Michigan. We
provide professional consultations and services for managing lakes,
ponds, streams, wetlands, prairies, and forests for both public and
private clients. Position summary As a Technician & Equipment
Operator in our Habitat Services Division, you are responsible for
the completion of projects and treatments while aiding coworkers
and supervisors with the improvement of clients' properties. You
will have the opportunity to travel throughout Wisconsin and its
adjoining states, to assist individuals, government agencies,
groups, and businesses with their land and water construction and
management needs. You will also collaborate with coworkers in the
Pond and Lake Divisions for project assistance and completion.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assists with implementation of mitigation actions, study
designs, construction plans, and management strategies for
clientele pond objectives, provided to you by your supervisor.
- Operate heavy equipment and chain saws.
- Prepare, load and unload equipment and materials necessary for
project completion.
- Aids in the installation of materials and plantings.
- Assists with conducting pesticide treatments for invasive
species.
- Assists with equipment maintenance and repair.
- Cleans, maintains, and organizes equipment, materials,
buildings and grounds. Qualifications:
- Two or more years of experience in the field of construction
and/or natural resource management
- Heavy equipment operation experience required
- Ability to lift 85 lbs or greater
- Ability to work outside in inclement weather
- Ability to work out of town and be away from home
overnight
- Ability for clear written & verbal communication with coworkers
& clientele
- Must be capable of adapting to rapidly changing environment
while completing projects with stringent deadlines
- Must have strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to report to office location in Berlin, WI
- Wisconsin Commercial Pesticide Applicators License, or ability
to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license and CDL required
- Mechanical knowledge, chainsaw experience, and/or Hazardous
Materials Certification is a plus Pay: The position will be hourly,
with the opportunity for 3% commission on individual sales. We
offer a competitive starting pay package, including employer
provided benefits, of approximately $48,500/year. Applicants should
expect a varied work week with a minimum of 40-45 hours per week
during busy season (April-Oct), with fewer hours during slow season
(Nov-March), including 3-day weekends with most Fridays off. Job
